Everything you need to run your first Budget Bird session.
Three steps to your first class
1
Create a class
Set up a game – choose your time limit and add reflection questions.
2
Share the code
Students go to budgetbird.co.nz/join and enter the 4-letter code. No accounts needed.
3
Debrief together
Review results on your dashboard – compare budgets, read reflections, export data.
Not sure what to expect?
Walk through the full experience with our interactive demo – it takes about 3 minutes and shows you exactly what teachers and students see.
Troubleshooting
What devices do students need?
Any device with a modern browser – laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and phones all work. No app or download required.
A student can't find the game code
The code appears on your host screen once you click "Start Class". Display it on a projector or write it on the board. Students enter it at budgetbird.co.nz/join.
A student got disconnected
They can rejoin with the same code and team name – their progress is saved automatically. If the page was closed, they may need to re-enter the code.
Can I pause the game?
Yes – use the Pause button on your host screen. The timer stops and students see a "Paused" indicator. Click Resume when you're ready to continue.
How do I see results afterwards?
Go to your Dashboard and click on the game. You'll see every team's budget, reflection answers, and can export the data as CSV or XLSX.
Can students see each other's budgets?
Not during the game – each team works independently. After the game ends, results are visible on your dashboard but not shared with students unless you choose to display them.
